Privacy policy
Version of 25 October 2026
In short
- What we keep: what you put into Manon yourself (your profile, your pregnancy, your child, the log, your diary, your photos, your tasks) and what we need to sign you in and send you notifications.
- What for: only to make Manon work, for you and for the people you give access, and, only if your family says yes, to improve Manon's advice with a copy of your child's log without names (see below). No ads, no selling of data, no trackers or analytics.
- Where: in Belgium, in Google Cloud's data centre in Saint-Ghislain. Two things go through the United States: signing in itself (Google sees an account number there, not your email address or your name) and the notifications on your phone (those always go through Apple on an iPhone, through Google on Android).
- Who sees it: you, your partner if you share a family, babysitters and grandparents you link (only what they need to look after your child) and your midwife (your contact details, your child's basic details and growth, and of the log only what you tick).
- Health: data about your pregnancy, your wellbeing and your child is kept only with your explicit consent. Without it, you use Manon for your tasks, your calendar and names.
- Deleting: in the app, under Profile › Delete account, everything is gone at once, your photos included. Otherwise ask us: within 30 days everything is gone.
1. Who is responsible
Manon is an app by Proposition BV, Kruisstraat 129, 2570 Duffel, Belgium, company number BE 0707.627.272. Proposition BV is the controller of your data in Manon.
For any question about your data: hello@manon-app.com.
2. What data we process, and why
Everything below comes from you: what you fill in and log, and what your partner, your babysitter or your midwife adds to your family or your conversation. The legal basis is the reason the GDPR, Europe's privacy law, asks for each use.
| What | Which data | What for | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Account | email address; password (only stored in a form that can't be read); failed sign-in attempts; when you accepted the terms and this policy, and whether you consented to health data | signing you in, protecting your account, showing what you agreed to | contract (Art. 6(1)(b)); for the proof of your consent: legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) |
| Profile | first name, last name, gender, language, postcode, your situation (wishing for a child, pregnant, parent, grandparent or just curious), your priorities, your personal code, your notification choices | tailoring Manon to you; letting your partner and your babysitter link with you | contract |

| Log | feedings (breast, bottle, solids and what your child ate), diapers, sleep, temperature, medication and vaccines, growth (weight, length, head circumference), tummy time, relaxation, pumping and stored milk; with each log who logged it, and optionally a remark and a mood; running timers | the log, the sleep prediction, the daily routine, reminders | explicit consent |
| Routine and reminders | who has your child today, and the handovers; the plan for the reminders (time, kind, sometimes the name of a medicine); on which days your babysitter uses the routine; lists and tips for the babysitter | sending reminders to whoever has your child | explicit consent |
| Tasting | what your child tasted and how they liked it, reactions (such as a rash or vomiting), notes and photos; the foods you offer again after a reaction | the tasting overview | explicit consent |

| Helping improve Manon's advice (only if your family says yes) | a copy of your child's log: when, what kind and how long for feedings, sleep, diapers, temperature, medication (whether it was a vaccine, not the name), growth, tummy time, relaxation, pumping and tastings; your child's gender, weight and length at birth, and whether they were born earlier or later than expected; how you feed your child; on which days someone else looked after them (the kind of carer, not who); your family's country and time zone. Without names, contact details, account numbers, notes, the diary or photos, and with every date moved by the same number of days | improving Manon's advice, such as when the next nap or bedtime is proposed, and testing changes to it before they reach you | explicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a)) |

| Notifications | the notifications in the app; your phone's notification token | sending you notifications, including tips for your week of pregnancy or your child's age (those only with your consent to health data) | contract |
| Technical | account number, time and error messages in the technical logs; when something goes wrong in the app: the error, the screen and the screens you opened just before, the version of the app, your phone's model, its iOS or Android version, language and time zone, and the crash reports your phone hands to the app. No names and nothing from your logs | finding and fixing errors, keeping Manon safe and working | legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| Your messages to us | what you write under “Something not working? Let us know”, with the version of the app, your phone's model and the screens you opened just before; sent from the routine or the sleep screen, also what Manon proposed and the logs of the last two weeks it was based on (times and kinds only, no notes or names). The window tells you what goes with it | answering you and fixing what doesn't work | your consent: you choose to send it; for the logs, your explicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a)) |
Manon only asks for access to your camera (to scan a babysitter's code or take a photo), to your photos (to pick one) and to send you notifications. Never to your location, your contacts or your phone's calendar. While the app is open, it asks our own server in Belgium about once a minute whether there is a connection; that request contains nothing about you.
Some things your phone works out by itself: the sleep prediction, the daily routine, Tasting's statuses and suggestions, and the answer to “Can I eat this?”, which asks nothing from us and stores nothing. Of the routine, only the plan for the reminders goes to our server, so whoever has your child gets them on time. Your phone also keeps a copy of your data, so Manon works without internet. That copy stays on your phone until you remove the app.
3. Health data
Data about your pregnancy, breastfeeding, your wellbeing and your child (feeding, sleep, temperature, medication, growth, reactions to food, how you feel) is health data. We only process it with your explicit consent: a separate tick when you create your account, or later in your profile (Profile › Health data).
If you choose “I won't share my health data”, Manon keeps nothing about your pregnancy or your child. You then use Manon for your tasks, your calendar and names, and you get no notifications about a child.
You can withdraw your consent at any time, at hello@manon-app.com. We then switch it off and delete your health data. If you share a family, your child's data stays for your partner, unless you both ask us to delete it. What we did before you withdrew remains lawful.
As a parent, you decide for your child. What you fill in about your child, you manage from your own account, and you exercise your child's rights.
Helping improve Manon's advice (optional)
Your family can let Manon keep a copy of your child's log, to make Manon's advice better for every family: when we change how Manon proposes a nap or a bedtime, we first check the change against these logs. It is a separate tick when you create your account, and a switch in your profile (Profile › Help improve Manon's advice). It is one choice for your family: either of you can switch it on or off.
The copy contains no names, contact details, account numbers, notes, diary or photos. Every date in it is moved by the same number of days, so ages, times of day and the order of everything stay right, but no real date is in it. Your family and your child get a number in it that only our copy process can link back to you, so we can keep the copy up to date and delete it. It is kept in Belgium (Google Cloud, Saint-Ghislain), in a database separate from the app that only we at Proposition BV can reach. We don't share it, don't sell it and use it for nothing else.
Switch it off and we delete the copy straight away. If your family's data is deleted, the copy goes with it. What we learned from it before (a better rule in the app, for example) stays, but your child's data is gone.
4. Who sees what
Your family
You and your partner share one family. You can both see and edit everything in it: your child and the log, your child's diary, Tasting, the tasks, the shared appointments, the choices and settings, the babysitting requests and the names you like (that's how Manon finds your matches). Your partner also sees your name.
These stay yours alone: your profile, your personal diary, your own appointments, your notifications and the names you skip.
Babysitters and grandparents
You link them yourself, with their personal code. They then see your child's basic details (name, gender, date of birth and birth details) and your babysitting requests, including those sent to others, with the answers.
If you give them the routine, they also see your child's sleep, feedings, medication, temperature and relaxation, the running timers, your child's settings and your lists and tips. They log too, in their own name, and see who has your child today. The days you choose decide when they use the routine. As long as they have access, they can also see the logs of other days.
They never see diapers, growth, pumping, tummy time, the diaries, the tastings in Tasting, your tasks or names. You can unlink them at any time.
Your midwife
When you connect with a midwife, your midwife receives your name, your phone number(s) and your address, your partner's name and phone number, and the names and gender of your children. Your midwife always sees your child's basic details, growth and feeding settings. Of the log, your midwife only sees what you or your partner tick under “Choose what to share”: nothing by default.
Whichever of you made the connection, and the midwife, see every conversation of that connection. The other parent sees their own conversation with the midwife and the group conversation. The midwife's own notes about you are for the midwife only.
If you end the connection, your midwife no longer sees anything of your family. The messages, the appointments and the contact details of your connection stay visible to them, as in a patient file. What a midwife does with your data in their care falls under their own professional secrecy and duties.
Other users
If you are a midwife, your profile (name, RIZIV/INAMI number, introduction, phone, professional email address, regions and availability) is visible to everyone with an account in Manon, so families can find you.
Manon itself
The people at Proposition BV who run Manon can see and change what is under your own account in the admin environment (your profile, your notifications, your personal diary, your appointments), and can block an account. We can only reach your family's data through technical access to the database. We never look without a reason: only to fix a problem, stop abuse or at your request.
We don't sell or rent your data and don't pass it on for advertising. We show no ads and use no trackers or analytics.
5. Where your data is
| What | With whom | Where | What they receive |
|---|---|---|---|
| Database, backend and photos | Google Cloud (Firebase), as processor | Belgium (europe-west1, Saint-Ghislain) | everything you keep in Manon |
| The copy to improve Manon's advice (only if your family says yes) | Google Cloud (Firebase), as processor | Belgium (europe-west1, Saint-Ghislain) | the copy described in section 3, without names or contact details |
| Error reports from the app and your messages to us | Google Cloud (Firebase), as processor | Belgium (europe-west1, Saint-Ghislain) | what section 2 lists under Technical and Your messages to us |
| Technical logs | Google Cloud, as processor | not yet fixed to the EU; we are moving them to Belgium | account number, time, error messages |
| Signing in | Google's Firebase Authentication, as processor | United States | an account number, your IP address, the type of device and when you sign in. Not your email address, your name or your password: we check those ourselves, in Belgium |
| Notifications on your iPhone | Apple Push Notification service | Apple, also outside the EU | the text of the notification and your device's notification token. The text can include your child's name, what was logged, the name of a medicine, the start of a message or the place of an appointment |
| Notifications on Android | Firebase Cloud Messaging by Google, as processor | Google, also outside the EU | the text of the notification and your device's notification token. The text can include your child's name, what was logged, the name of a medicine, the start of a message or the place of an appointment |
| The map in the childcare finder | Apple Maps (on Android: Google Maps) | Apple or Google | the part of the map you look at and your IP address |
| Downloading the app | Apple App Store and TestFlight (on Android: Google Play) | Apple or Google | what they process under their own privacy policy |
Transfers outside the EU. Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, for which the European Commission adopted an adequacy decision on 10 July 2023; Google's processing terms also include the EU's standard contractual clauses. Apple transfers data from the EU under the EU's standard contractual clauses; in the EU, Apple Distribution International Limited (Ireland) is responsible.
Older versions of the app. Since 12 October 2026, Manon runs in Belgium, apart from the exceptions above. Versions before 1.0.0 (75) still send notifications through Expo (650 Industries, United States; certified under the Data Privacy Framework), still put new photos in a Google storage in the United States and still call some of Manon's functions there. Update the app to stop this. Accounts from before that date still have an email address and an unreadable password at Firebase Authentication until you first sign in with the new version: we then delete them there. As soon as everyone has moved over, we close these routes.
6. How long we keep data
- As long as your account exists, we keep what you put into Manon. What you delete yourself (a log, a photo, a diary entry, a tasting) is gone straight away.
- If you delete your account in the app, we delete everything at once: your profile, your data, your photos, your messages and your sign-in. If you ask us, within 30 days. If you share a family, the family's data stays for your partner; what you logged for a family you care for stays with that family.
- The copy to improve Manon's advice exists as long as your family says yes. Switch it off, or have your family's data deleted, and we delete it straight away.
- Technical logs are deleted after 30 days.
- Error reports from the app are deleted after 30 days. What a report says about the error itself (its message and where in the code it happened, without who) stays as long as the error keeps happening, and up to 90 days after.
- Your messages to us, with what came with them, are deleted after 90 days.
- Firebase Authentication keeps IP addresses for a few weeks.
You delete your account in the app: Profile › Delete account, with your password. If you can no longer open the app, write from your account's address to hello@manon-app.com (how it works).
7. Security
- We never store your password in a readable form, only as a code that can't be turned back (scrypt).
- After five wrong passwords in a row, your account is locked for a while.
- All traffic is encrypted (TLS), and so is stored data.
- Rules in the database decide who can read and write what, as described in section 4.
- A photo only opens with its own secret link.
- Within Proposition BV, only those who need it have access to the admin environment.
If data leaks despite this, we report it to the Belgian Data Protection Authority within 72 hours, and to you if the risk to you is high.
8. Your rights
You have the right to:
- access your data;
- rectification of what isn't right (much of it you can change yourself in the app);
- erasure of your data;
- restriction of processing;
- portability: your data in a readable file;
- object to processing based on our legitimate interest;
- withdraw your consent, where consent is the basis.
Email hello@manon-app.com. We answer within a month and may ask you to confirm the request comes from you.
9. Age
Manon is for adults: you must be at least 16 to create an account. You fill in your child's data, as their parent.
10. No automated decisions
Manon makes no decisions about you or your child and uses no artificial intelligence. The sleep prediction, the daily routine and the feeding times are aids your phone works out from what you logged. They don't judge your child and don't replace a doctor or midwife.
11. The childcare finder
The finder shows public data about childcare in Belgium: the name, the address, the type of childcare, the price and the number of places, and the contact details (phone, email, website). Sometimes it also shows the name of a contact person, for example for a childminder.
- Sources: Opgroeien's childcare finder, De Sociale Kaart, the websites of the childcare and of their umbrella organisations (such as Ferm, Helan, i-mens and Felies), and what a childcare registered in Manon itself.
- Why: to help parents find childcare.
- Legal basis: our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)).
Are your details in it? You can have them corrected or removed at hello@manon-app.com or with “Suggest an edit” in the app. If you object, we take them out.
12. Our website
manon-app.com uses no cookies and no trackers, and loads nothing from other websites. The site is hosted by Google (Firebase Hosting), which serves it from its network of servers around the world. Like any web server, it keeps technical logs: your IP address, the page you request and when.
13. Changes
If we change this policy, the new date is at the top. We let you know about important changes in the app beforehand.
14. A complaint
